Mutumba Hills, in the northern Akagera National Park, is a beautiful scenery overlooking the Gishanju loop that hosts several species of wildlife. Hiking the Mutumba Hills is a breathtaking experience with an appreciation of the mysteries in Akagera National Park.
This is the highest point of Akagera National Park and is known for hosting camping safaris at the Campsite. The Mutumba hills are a composition of hilly slopes with open savannah and dense vegetation in the valleys. A visit here will allow you to engage in activities such as game drives with spot-on Giraffes, Zebras and several antelopes.
The early morning hours are a great reward to birds, and you can still have a guided nature walk.
Visitors to Mutumba Hills spend nights at gazetted and fenced campsites set at the top of the hill. The site has facilities like toilets and showers, a kitchen for those making their meals and a public shelter.
